CASE STUDY:  Chance Operations

DATE: 06.13.06
OBJECTIVE: Investigate the use of chance operations as a decision-making tool.
CONTEXT:  In the Western 20th Century artists & composers sought to remove their own conscious control from expression. In doing so they broke with a tradition of fine artists emphasizing their personal self-expression. However thereby they aligned themselves with much older traditions of humans using chance operations to gain a supra-personal perspective.
