Site Integration-Report

Study Subject:  Corporate Site Integration

Date: 05.01.02
Client or Sponsor:  VeriSign, Inc
Objective: Provide model for unified customer experience across all web properties and product interfaces.

Summary:  This project was to provide information architecture for VeriSign, Inc 's Worldwide Corproate Marketing Group which was primarily occupied with integrating many sites, the product of mergers and acquisitions, into one unified, branded experience. All the work was organized around the development of a Unified Interaction Model and then that model was communicated to the many groups throughout the company responsible for product & web interface development. Design patterns were developed into a library and applied in specific pilot projects to demonstrate their methods of application. Cross-functional design and development teams were used as forae to exchange and test ideas. There were large challenges in areas of resource alignment and corporate communication since groups continually shifted in make-up and purpose and leadership was not always clear. However, great work was accomplished in laying groundwork for further growth that is projected for digital trust services. Research lead to development of the Unified Interaction Model which served to bridge an old company with its new life inside the larger entity. It allowed designers security of knowing corporate goals and the autonomy to do their own work.
